if you are a performer within the industry, this is especially for you.
Hollie and i began a conversation in June of 2012 while she was sitting in her hospital bed. she was holding Eric’s hand, eating popsicles and making decisions about the things she wanted to do, with the time she had left.
our conversation turned to what she would leave behind, beyond her art work, her films and her writing. we had spoken of what it means to leave a mark in a positive way and what some people leave as a legacy. when asked what she wanted to do, Hollie told me she wanted to do something for her fellow performers.
she said she wanted to bring a space to Las Vegas, during AVN, where performers could be pampered, escape the cameras and crowds of the convention floor for a few minutes and relax. she wanted to provide a place that offered performers amenities so they would know they were being thought of and that they are loved and accepted.
beyond hair and make-up, massages and facials, she wanted to make sure that her peers had something she did not have available to her usually while traveling to AVN…and that potentially, if she’d had access to it sooner, her outcome may have been slightly different.
in Hollie’s thoughts, a hospitality suite was good, but providing that along with snacks, beverages and an idea that made her light up in her signature wide smile: “Offer them breast exams. Make a safe place that they can get screened. Just help them. Do all the other stuff, but make sure you offer the exams. And if they get scared, help them through it.”
and so, because of what Hollie had in her heart for those she respected and loved, The Hollie Stevens Suite was born.
this week, on Friday, January 18, starting at 10 a.m., inside The Infinity Suite of the Hard Rock Hotel, members from the solaceSF team and our partners based in Las Vegas, The Cupcake Girls, will collaborate to do what Hollie asked.
we will open a suite, bearing Hollie’s name offering
- hair and make up services
- mini massages
- mini facials
- food and beverage
- SWAG! [Hollie LOVED giving gifts so all performers will have a gift of items Hollie loved]
- and most importantly, Breast Cancer screenings, provided by Operation Hope to ensure a performer has an opportunity to practice self care while attending the AVN Awards and weekend events, with all services offered free of charge.
solaceSF is fortunate to share the same commitment to loving the men and women within the adult industry as The Cupcake Girls. their Founder, Joy, has offered us some of their amazing service providers locally in Vegas. like us, they had planned to do something special for performers during AVN prior to Hollie’s request and have now been enthusiastic in helping make this a reality. when i sat down with Joy in Las Vegas in August of 2012 and pitched the idea of joining us in this endeavor, she was on board and ready to help us do this to honor Hollie and all performers we would be seeing.
our Founding Donors, San Francisco based GameLink, our Premier Donor and 2013 XBIZ Award Winner, Masque, along with Operation Hope, private donors from solaceSF and The Cupcake Girls have helped to make The Hollie Stevens Suite a reality.
The Hollie Stevens Suite will be open to performers:
Friday, 1/18 10am – 8pm
Saturday, 1/19 10am – 8pm
and
Sunday, 1/20 9am – 11 am
Hollie told everyone she was not haunting anyone outside of San Francisco. i, for one, am hoping she is willing to break her own rule and show up in unexpected and lovely ways this weekend.
